Well I know it has been a while since I wrote the first article on Feng Shui (you can find it here), but I have been quite busy to implement all these principles and be sure that my theory is really applicable.
So in the first article I talked about general principles, about the elements and how to look at them and their interaction. In this article I will take the North area and go through the Feng Shui cycles with it. Are you ready?

Well, the North area represents the career, the service you bring to others, through which you make yourself known and which builds you up as well.
Like with all other areas, you always need to have some grounding (EARTH) for it. This means your first job, the first years when you start working. If these are in the past for you, at least revisit them in your mind just for a bit so you know from where you are coming. Make sure you have something reminding you of these days in this place.
The EARTH element is represented through rocks, crystals, stones, clay figurines, landscapes, pieces depicting earth items, colors: sandy, latte, terracotta, yellow, tan, ecru, light brown. You can add Himalayan Salt Lamps, terracotta candle holders, lighting with crystals.
Then you start seeing METAL forming, being the money you obtain.
METAL can be represented through metal vases, dishes, bowls, art or photos in METAL frames, wind chimes, coins, art work depicting metal, colors: white, gray.
METAL then starts to hold WATER. WATER can be seen here like your workload, that which you need to absorb, see through.
WATER is represented through fountains, wells, water features, mirrors, decor/art/photos in water colors, images/paintings of water, colors: blue, black. Also, as per Feng Shui theory, a Buddha statue in Black or Black turtle brings lucky water energy.
And once you have EARTH and WATER, WOOD, trees, start growing - you gain acknowledgement, make connections, your contribution is praised and recognized.
WOOD is seen in healthy plants, wood statues, figurines, bamboo chimes, colors: green, brown.
When you have METAL(money) and WOOD(recognition), your FIRE starts burning, FIRE being the energy that makes you want more, make more grounding (EARTH), extend your place. Be careful however of how you use METAL to cut the WOOD, and here I am talking about your expenses, your living cost. You need to extend, create more EARTH, but you need to do this in a way all elements and cycles are correctly balanced. Then the cycles can flow easily.
When feng shuing your NORTH area, you need to think exactly in which phase you are in your career. If you are in your beginning or looking to extend, add some FIRE (your will power) and EARTH elements - add grounding, decorative art depicting earth elements, earth colors, bring the color red or candles but not too much, you don't want to get burried in work.
If you find it hard to make your self needed, feel you would like to have more to give, add some WATER (you need to be needed). Remember this is what you absorb and transform.
If you feel too overwhelmed, put the focus on WOOD and METAL elements to keep your FIRE burning.
Also, when you look at this NORTH area, what is the most visible element to you?
Is it FIRE? Then that means you have a lot to give, that is good but not when you feel burned out. So always pay attention to your inner feeling.
Is it WOOD? That is really good, you are recognized and appreciated and it also represents the possibility to extend your service and what you can provide.
Is it METAL? Or lack of METAL? If the METAL element is predominant it means you either are very well remunerated or that money means a lot to you. If METAL element is not very well represented it can mean either this does not matter to you or that there is a lack of it coming from the service you provide to others.
If instead EARTH is very predominant that can mean a lot of stabilty, your career being very well formed or it can also mean you are in a confort zone.
If the most evident element is WATER, that can be either that you are overwhelmed by too much things to absorb or that you have a lot of work to do, so you need to create grounding for WOOD (recognition) to grow.
One other thing to bear in mind in FENG SHUI are also the stars, the macro-cosmos, not only the micro-cosmos (the natural cycles on earth).
Based on the stars positions in every new Chinese Year, FENG SHUI theory associates a different star to each of these areas.
For example, this year, 2019, the North (Career) area is associated with Star 4 - Love and studies, the star element being WOOD. This means that this year, 2019, you will have in this area an increased chance to learn and expand your knowledge but also that this can have a direct impact on your love life or that it can make you look at how your career impacts your love life or how your love life influences you in your career.
All in all, out of the box, in 2019 we have in the North (Career) area the WOOD element (recognition, acknowledgement, increased visibility). What we choose to do with it further depends totally on us.
I hope this has brought some light in how to FENG SHUI the North (Career) area of your house.
Remember! Make this place so it always inspires you in the right way. You are the one who always chooses what to see or what to do.
